Net Metering

If you have a generation facility (or facilities) using methane, wind, solar, biomass, hydropower, or geothermal resources at its energy source, this is the option for you!

  • You must be a smaller generator (25 kW or less).
  • You will be able to use the electrical output of your generation facility to supply all or a portion of your load (any excess is delivered to us).
  • If your generation exceeds your electric consumption for the month (this is known as Net Excess Generation), we pay you in the form of a credit on your bill!

Net Excess Generation (NEG): The amount you are paid for your NEG depends upon the type of generation you have.

  • You are paid one price for wind generation.
  • You are paid one price for photo-voltaic generation.
  • You are paid one price for baseload (such as methane fueled) generation.

Prices paid vary based upon summer (June 1 - September 30) and Winter (October 1 - May 31) seasons.

Rates shown above represent cost per kilowatt hour only and does not include other applicable fees. See Rate Plans for details regarding additional fees.

Pilot Program Demand Response Resource Rider
You are providing a Demand Response Resource with an output of at least 500 kW at a single location and enter into service agreement (pilot program limited to three customers).
Standby Service (ST-Rider)
You have a generator(s) designed to produce electrical energy.
Market-Based Rate Rider (MKT-Rider)
You have a minimum monthly demand of 6,250 kW and want to enter into a market-based rate service agreement with NPPD.
Simultaneous Buy / Sell Service (SI Rider)
You have generation of 25kW or more that does not qualify for net-metering or standby rate.
Interruptible Service Rider (INT Rider)
You have a business that operates 3 shifts/day, 7 days/week and 52 weeks/year and are willing to alter your operations to get a better rate.
Energy Curtailment Service Rider (EC Rider)
You are willing to voluntarily reduce your use of electricity at a minimum of 50 kW during an energy curtailment period.
Demand Waiver Rider
You are willing to voluntarily reduce your use of electricity by 100 kW or more during peak hours when requested to do so by NPPD.
Off-Peak Rider
You have agreed to have your demands adjusted during off-peak periods.
