Pennies for Power, an energy assistance program established to help disadvantaged families pay energy-related expenses, is administered by the Nebraska 2-1-1 hosted by the United Way of the Midlands who screens applicants and determines program eligibility. Contributions can be tax deductible. (Check with your tax advisor.)
The State of Nebraska Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERA) makes funds available to assist eligible renter households that are unable to pay past due and/or future rent and utilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, subject to income qualifications and residency. Those eligible can obtain assistance for rent or utilities due from April 1, 2020 through November 30, 2021. LIHEAP offers financial assistance to low-income households to offset heating and cooling costs and assists with immediate home energy needs.
