Large Business / Industrial

Depending on size, a variety of rate options exist for our large business / industrial customers.

Large Industrial Service

Typically applicable to industrial or manufacturing customers with peak demands in excess of 20,000 kW. (View Rate Plan)

High Tension Service

Typically applicable to customers with peak demands in excess of 2,500 kW but less than 20,000 kW. (View Rate Plan)

General Service Demand

Typically applicable to customers with peak demands as follows, but less than 2,500 kW:

  • Peak demands of 100 kW or more in any two summer months (June 1 - September 30).
  • Peak demands of 200 kW or more in any two months of a 12 consecutive month period.

Commercial Electric Space Heating

Typically applicable to industrial or commercial customers when all service at one location meets the following requirements:

  • You have service through a single meter.
  • Electricity is the primary (greater than 50%) source of energy for space heating.
  • Your maximum demand (kW) exceeds 25 kW.

Rate Plans

Sometimes, additional or unexpected costs occur as part of delivering electricity to you. These add-ons are called "riders," and they vary, based up on how you buy or use energy.

Interruptible Market-Based Rider (IMB-Rider)
You have a business that operates three shifts/day, seven days a week and 52 weeks/year. You are willing to alter your operations to get a better rate and enter into an Interruptible Market-Based Rate Service Agreement.
Pilot Program Demand Response Resource Rider
You are providing a Demand Response Resource with an output of at least 500 kW at a single location and enter into service agreement (pilot program limited to three customers).
Standby Service (ST-Rider)
You have a generator(s) designed to produce electrical energy.
Market-Based Rate Rider (MKT-Rider)
You have a minimum monthly demand of 6,250 kW and want to enter into a market-based rate service agreement with NPPD.
Simultaneous Buy / Sell Service (SI Rider)
You have generation of 25kW or more that does not qualify for net-metering or standby rate.
Interruptible Service Rider (INT Rider)
You have a business that operates 3 shifts/day, 7 days/week and 52 weeks/year and are willing to alter your operations to get a better rate.
Energy Curtailment Service Rider (EC Rider)
You are willing to voluntarily reduce your use of electricity at a minimum of 50 kW during an energy curtailment period.
Demand Waiver Rider
You are willing to voluntarily reduce your use of electricity by 100 kW or more during peak hours when requested to do so by NPPD.
Off-Peak Rider
You have agreed to have your demands adjusted during off-peak periods.
