We strive to generate and deliver the best energy value for Nebraskans

NPPD sets rates solely on the cost of doing business. We work to contain costs each and every day without sacrificing the reliability customers come to expect. As a result, our rates are consistently lower than the national average, with many electric customers on the East or West coast paying up to two times more than Nebraskans.

The Value of Electricity

Electricity – it’s a service that most of us can’t live without. It powers our homes, our businesses, our lives. And while it may not seem like it when you get your bill, electricity is also a great value.

Homeowners in Nebraska pay, on average, about 10 cents per kilowatt hour for electricity. Let’s consider for a moment what 10 cents gets you when it comes to your electric service.

Your energy dollar goes a long way

Affordability is only one of the benefits of being a cost-of-service-based, public power utility. The not-for-profit business model provides customers value by asking them to pay only what it costs to produce and deliver electricity. We are not driven by profit margins and have no stockholders. Every dollar invested in the operation of our power plants, transmission lines and facilities is made to ensure we can meet our customer’s energy needs at the most affordable cost.
