Norfolk, Neb. –The August 13-14 meeting of the Nebraska Public Power District’s Board of Directors will be held in Norfolk, rather than its normal location at NPPD’s General Office headquarters in Columbus. Both days of meetings will be held in the Norfolk Council Chambers at 309 North Fifth Street.
The Board periodically conducts its meetings at other locations across the state in order to provide more opportunities for the public to attend. In 2012, the Board met in Brownville at Cooper Nuclear Station, at Gerald Gentleman Station near Sutherland in 2013, and in Scottsbluff in 2014.
Thursday’s session begins at 9:30 a.m. (Central) with an official welcome from NPPD Board member Virg Froehlich from Norfolk and City Administrator Shane Weidner. A strategic session will follow with presentations and discussion on various District business matters, including the Clean Power Plan, solar power opportunities, and NPPD’s response to the recent retail billing scam.
Public comment time will be held at 1 p.m., followed by the Nuclear Committee meeting, and subsequently, the Energy Supply and Customer Services Committee meetings.
Friday’s session will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a President’s report, followed by official action taken on issues discussed in committee meetings the day before. There will be a public comment period at 9 a.m. on Friday.
