NPPD tags Curry VP of customer services

Columbus, NE – Effective August 1, 2011, Ken Curry will lead the Nebraska Public Power District’s Customer Services division as vice president.

Currently serving as project manager for the utility’s strategic planning process, Curry brings 20 years of both operational and customer service experience to the position.

His career with NPPD has included positions in the utility’s Nuclear Engineering and Energy Management Departments, as well as leadership positions in Corporate Safety, Operations Services, Energy Services, Technical Solutions, Customer Care and Energy Efficiency. Curry also has experience outside of NPPD in the areas of engineering sales, consulting and manufacturing.

“Ken has a depth and breadth of knowledge in NPPD’s operations, while also being well-versed in process improvement,” said NPPD President and CEO Pat Pope. Having led the District’s recent strategic planning efforts, he understands where the industry is heading in terms of power supply, technical innovation, and utility communications. I have no doubt he will establish good rapport with NPPD’s customers.”

His salary has been set at $220,000.

Curry holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and masters of business administration both from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is a registered professional engineer, a certified energy manager, and key account executive. He earned certification as a Six Sigma Black Belt and Lean Leader through BD Medical in Columbus, Neb.

Actively involved with family, outdoor, church and community activities, Curry is serving his second term on the Columbus Public School Board, is a Board member of the YMCA, a Rotarian, and a two-time mentor with the Teammates program. He is an Eagle Scout and strong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America program.
