As residents of the Arbor Day State, Nebraskans appreciate the value of trees. They add beauty to our landscape, clean the air we breathe, and provide food and habitat for birds and animals. Trees shelter us from blustery winter winds and provide relief on a hot summer’s day. In fact, they can even lower heating and cooling costs when planted in the right location. But when planted too close to overhead power lines, trees can pose a serious safety hazard and threaten the reliability of electric service to you and your neighbor.
Providing safe, reliable electric service while protecting Nebraska’s natural resources is important to NPPD. That’s why we have developed a comprehensive vegetation management program. By combining proper tree trimming and removal methods with public education on the importance of planting the right tree in the right place, we can reduce outages, eliminate potential safety hazards, and decrease expenses for utilities and rate payers.
