NPPD Corporate Communications and the Environmental Department have been participating in and contributing to the annual Children’s Groundwater Festival. The Festival is an annual one-day event for fourth and fifth grade students of Nebraska has been held since 1988. It is a dynamic, energetic day filled with hands-on education. The focus of the Festival is to educate youth through lively entertainment, interactive displays and tangible experiments. One of the activities hosted by NPPD is to have students construct their own working hydro model and learn how electricity is generated from water. The activities are designed to teach children about water in a hands-on, interactive manner. The Festival has drawn national and international acclaim over the years.
