Nebraska Rural Electric Youth Energy Camp

The camp is sponsored by the Nebraska Rural Electric Association and is held for a week at the State 4-H Camp in the Halsey National Forest.  The camp has been held for over 25 years.  The goal of the camp is to offer a program that challenges students, educationally, recreationally, and socially.  The high school age students learn about electricity, how it is made and delivered, and how to work and play around electricity in a safe manner.  A competition is hosted for ambassadors that will be sent to the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association Youth Tour of Washington D.C.  NPPD Corporate Communication and Environmental Departments host one or two activities at the Energy Camp and has helped sponsor a tour of NPPD’s Gerald Gentleman Station located near Sutherland, Nebraska.
