Electric Charges - Electric charges consist of a Base Rate which is made up of two main charges, the Customer Charge and Energy Charge.

  • Customer Charge for providing the meter and electricity service.
  • Energy Charge for the amount of electricity you use. The energy charge covers the costs from generation through delivery. The rates are charged on a per kilowatt-hour (kWh) basis and vary by season.

In addition to the Base Rate, the cost of service for most NPPD customers also includes a lease payment and gross revenue payment.

Lease Payment - The lease payment applies to customers located in or around a city or town, and it reflects the cost of leasing electric distribution facilities.

Gross Revenue Tax - The gross revenue tax payment applies to customers located within the municipal limits. The gross revenue tax is required by Nebraska statutes.
