Protecting Nebraska’s Environment, Hand-in-Hand

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality, Keep Nebraska Beautiful, Electric Power Research Institute, Nebraska Energy Office, Plains CO2 Reduction Partnership, Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and Nebraska Forest Service are a few examples of the various entities NPPD works with to protect Nebraska’s quality of life.

These partnerships promote open dialogue on ever-evolving environmental issues and common interests. Topics addressed include:

  • the capture and use of methane,
  • carbon sequestration,
  • climate change,
  • energy conservation,
  • pollution prevention,
  • endangered species,
  • compressed air and new fuel studies,
  • and water – just to name a few.

“Environmental partnerships benefit the entire state,” said NDEQ Director Michael Linder. “Only by working together can we continue to protect the integrity of our surrounding environment for the betterment of all who reside here.”

NPPD is also active in statewide events such as “Recycle Your Cycles” with Keep Scottsbluff/Gering Beautiful, the “NREA Energy Camp” for high school students in Halsey; “Water Daze” in Elkhorn; and the NPPD/NDEQ “Power Summit.” Working alongside state community college systems, NPPD supports wind technician, and power plant operations programs to advance renewable energy careers.

Working together, NPPD and our partners produce a more sustainable and healthier environment for Nebraskans.
