INFORMATION GUIDE

NPPD operates three hydroelectric generating facilities— at North

Platte and Kearney on the Platte River and near Spencer on the

Niobrara River. At each plant, water passes through turbines,

generates electricity and continues on unchanged. The generators,

totalling 28 megawatts, can serve 9,500 homes.

In 2015, 6 percent of the electric power we sell came from

water power, including purchases from plants operated by other

Nebraska utilities and the Western Area Power Administration

(WAPA), a federal agency.
