Pat Pope

Pat Pope
President & CEO
Mr. Pope graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and earned a master’s degree in Business Administration in 1995. He joined NPPD in December 1979 as an Electrical Engineer and has also held the positions of Distribution Planning Engineer, District Operations Superintendent, Regional Operations Superintendent, Regional Manager, Energy Control Center Manager and Vice President of Transmission Services. He was appointed Vice President of Energy Delivery in October of 2003. In November of 2004, Mr. Pope was named Vice President of Energy Supply. In January of 2008, he was appointed Vice President & Chief Operating Officer. In April of 2011, he was appointed President & CEO. Pat serves on The Energy Authority Board of Directors, is a member of LPPC’s CEO Steering Committee, and the CEO sponsor of the LPPC Environmental Task Force. Pat and his wife, Jackie, have three grown children and live in Columbus.


Traci Bender

Traci Bender
Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Bender joined NPPD in 1990 as Supervisor of Technical Accounting. She has also held the positions of District Manager, Rate Supervisor, Finance & Accounting Manager, Assistant Treasurer and Corporate Planning & Risk Manager. Ms. Bender graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and earned a master’s degree in Business Administration-Finance & Accounting from Regis University in 2006.


Ken Curry

Ken Curry
Vice President Customer Services
Ken has held engineering positions in the Nuclear Engineering Department and Energy Management Department and leadership positions in Strategic Planning, Corporate Safety, Operations Services, Energy Services, Technical Solutions, Customer Care and Energy Efficiency. Ken also has experience outside of NPPD in the areas of engineering sales, consulting and manufacturing.Ken holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Masters of Business Administration both from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Ken is a registered Professional Engineer, a Certified Energy Manager, a Certified Key Account Executive, and was previously certified as a Six Sigma Black Belt and Lean Leader through BD Medical. Ken is actively involved with his family and enjoys outdoor activities. Ken is also actively involved in community events serving on the Columbus Public School Board, a Rotarian, served on many community boards, a past two time mentor with the Teammates program, and is active in his church and coaching activities. Ken is an Eagle Scout and strong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America program.


Tom Kent

Tom Kent
Vice President & Chief Operating Officer
Thomas J. (Tom) Kent assumed the position of Vice President and Chief Operating Officer on May 1, 2011. Mr. Kent is responsible for strategic leadership, operation, and performance of NPPD’s non-nuclear assets, including power plants, transmission, and distribution facilities. Mr. Kent has over 23 years of electric utility experience. Tom joined Nebraska Public Power District in 1990 as the Environmental Qualification Coordinator at Cooper Nuclear Station. Tom’s contributions to NPPD’s electrical, instrumentation, and control engineering division at Cooper Nuclear Station earned him the management position of District Manager in 1994 and then Regional Manager in 1996 for NPPD’s Retail Division. Tom was selected as Retail Customer Care Manager in 1999. His leadership played an instrumental role in improving NPPD’s customer service by implementing a new billing system and constructing NPPD’s Centralized Call Center. Tom was appointed as NPPD’s first Chief Information Officer in November of 2001. In 2005, Tom returned to Cooper Nuclear Station as Project Manager for two strategic business projects. Tom then became NPPD’s Corporate Planning & Risk Manager in October of 2006, where he was responsible for completing NPPD’s Integrated Resource Plan. On April 1, 2008, Tom became the District’s Transmission & Distribution Manager and was responsible for the overall management and oversight of NPPD’s transmission and distribution assets. Mr. Kent holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Mr. Kent also spent four years on active duty as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Kent attended and successfully completed the Reactor Technology Course for Utility Executives at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in June 2012.


Oscar Limpias

Vice President & Chief Nuclear Officer
In January 2013, Mr. Limpias assumed his new position with NPPD at Cooper Nuclear Station. Prior to that, he served as vice president of engineering for Entergy Nuclear, Inc. Between February 2007 and his new assignment, he was responsible for overseeing all engineering activities of Entergy’s emerging nuclear business fleet wide. Prior to that role, he was vice president of engineering at the Northeast Headquarters in White Plains, N.Y., responsible for all engineering activities of Entergy’s emerging nuclear business in the Northeast. His nuclear career is highlighted by leadership positions at James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant, Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, PECO Energy Company, Millstone Unit 1 and 3, and Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station. His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in humanities from Colegio La Salle in Bolivia, a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from California State University and a certificate of Plant Operation at Peach Bottom Nuclear Station.


John McClure

John McClure
Vice President Government Affairs & General Counsel
Mr. McClure has undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Nebraska. In 1980 he joined NPPD’s legal department. Since 1993 he has held several management positions involving deregulation, governmental affairs and strategic planning. McClure is an author of the Legislature’s three-year electric industry study (LR 455) and has testified at the state and federal levels on electric industry issues. From January 21, 2011, through April 15, 2011, McClure served as Interim President & CEO.


Roy Steiner

Vice President Human Resources & Corporate Support
Mr. Steiner joined NPPD in 1998 as the Human Resources Manager with responsibility over compensation, benefits, payroll, workers compensation and HR Reps located throughout NPPD’s service area. Prior to his current appointment as Vice President of Human Resources & Corporate Support effective June 26, 2006, Roy held the position of NPPD’s Talent Development Manager. Mr. Steiner has also held HR management positions at Carolina Power & Light, Washington Public Power Supply System, Microrim, Inc., and Thousand Trails, Inc. A 1980 graduate of California State University, Mr. Steiner holds a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and Corporate Communication. Roy earned a master’s degree in Management – HR emphasis from City University in Seattle, Washington in 2005.


Lonny Linder

Chief Audit and Ethics Officer
Mr. Linder graduated from Wayne State College in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in Business. He joined the District in 1980 as a Staff Auditor. Linder has also held the positions of Senior Auditor and Internal Controls Supervisor. Mr. Linder is a Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor, and has a Certification in Control Self-Assessment. Mr. Linder was appointed as Chief Audit & Ethics Officer in 1998.


Beth Boesch

Beth Boesch
Senior Manager, Government and Public Relations
Beth Boesch is the Senior Manager, Government and Public Relations for NPPD. Ms. Boesch has been with NPPD for over 30 years, and has held the positions of communications supervisor, manager of Community Relations and Corporate Communications, district manager, regional manager and vice president of Marketing and Communications. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Doane College and an associate of arts degree in Journalism from Central Community College. She is a graduate of Stone and Webster Utility Management Development Program, the Gallup Sales Academy, and has completed graduate level courses from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. Ms. Boesch is NPPD’s chief spokesperson and serves as Public Affairs Director for NPPD’s Joint Information Center in support of crisis communications.


Alan Dostal

Alan Dostal
Corporate Nuclear Business Manager
Alan Dostal is Corporate Nuclear Business Manager for Nebraska Public Power District’s (NPPD) Cooper Nuclear Station. He has been employed by NPPD for 27 years and is responsible for certain planning, budgeting, contracting, financing, and other corporate nuclear related activities. In addition to this role, he is responsible for leading NPPD’s Domestic Energy Research and Application initiative. One of the key elements of this initiative was the establishment of the Nebraska Center for Energy Sciences Research with the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. A 1974 graduate of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Mr. Dostal joined NPPD in March 1979 as a Generation Engineering Scheduler in the Power Projects Division. His nuclear power career began in 1986 when he became Nuclear Planning Supervisor for Cooper Nuclear Station. After earning his Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska – Kearney in 1989, he became manager of nuclear planning and budgeting in 1990. He assumed his current management responsibilities in 2002.


Timothy Arlt

Timothy Arlt
General Manager of Retail
Timothy J. Arlt has over 30 years experience in the Public Power Utility Industry serving 23 years in Operations and 7 years within the Nuclear Division and the last 15 years with System Control Operations. He holds the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) System Operator Certification in Reliability Function and the Certified Key Account Executive (CKAE) from National Rural Electric Corporation Association (NRECA). He is a current member of the NERC Member Representatives Committee (MRC) Committee which is the Industry key stakeholder voice to the NERC Board of Trustees (BoT), the North American Transmission Forum which are the Owners and Operators of the North American Bulk Electric System and Southwest Power Pool (SPP) Change Working Group (CWG) and Regional Entity Trustees (RE) Committees. Mr. Arlt is accountable for the overall strategic direction, leadership, and performance of NPPD’s Retail Business Unit. He is responsible for customer and stakeholder relationships, Retail Business/Workforce processes, Retail financial strength, Retail sustainability and growth, and technical innovation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Concordia College and an associate of applied science degree from Southeast Community College.
