Diggers Hotline is the statewide one-call notification center, set up by Nebraska state law. It is the link between people who want to excavate and the underground facility owner/operators.
Anyone who excavates (or otherwise disturbs the surface) must first call "Diggers Hotline" as required by the Nebraska One-Call Notification System Act of 1994.
Whenever you plan excavation activities within the State of Nebraska, it is necessary that you first contact Diggers Hotline of Nebraska by calling 1-800-331-5666. Diggers Hotline takes calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please be prepared with the following information:
- Caller - telephone number
- Excavator/company name
- Address
- Start date and time of excavation
- County - town/city
- Township - range - section - 1/4 section
- Worksite street and number
- Nearest intersection
- Type of work and depth
- Type of equipment used: explosives, tunneling, horizontal boring
- Work location: street, sidewalk, private property, front, rear, side
- Work being done for: contact person, telephone number
- Best time to call back: am, pm, after 5 p.m.
Once you place the call, Diggers Hotline will tell you which of its members have underground facilities in the area of your proposed dig site, and notify them for you.
Locates should be requested 48 hours (two business working days), but not more than 10 business working days in advance of digging.
