The areas of focus with this offering include analyzing the data of the main meter and other sub - metered points that are of interest. Those typically include such loads as motors, chillers, boilers, processes, etc. The information will show graphically how these high-energy use pieces of equipment contribute to the facility's energy peak and associated monthly costs.
There are four options/solutions that can be suggested, based on the customer's situation. Some of the common features of the products include:
- Ability to monitor data from the main meter, main panels, sub-panels, specific equipment / processes, etc.
- Ability to track and profile kWh, KW, percent power factor, power quality data, phase angles, KVA, KVAR per phase, volts and amps per phase, frequency, harmonics, etc.
- Can program thresholds to activate alarms and do some minor control.
- Can view data with on site software or via the Internet.
A question that will be asked upfront is if in-house staff will install the equipment or will the project be outsourced. In either event, at least two options are available. One option deals with equipment that is relatively inexpensive with minimal features and another option that is typically higher priced but provides more sophistication and information.
In any case, NPPD's role is to bring to the table possible vendors that represent products that fulfill the customer's specific need. This will help ensure that the best product fit is matched to the situation and opportunity.
