Nebraska Public Power District has an immediate opening for a Quality Assurance Senior Auditor/Engineer (Level IV) located at Cooper Nuclear Station near Brownville, Nebraska.
The Quality Assurance Senior Auditor/Engineer (Level IV) provides a high degree of technical expertise and leadership necessary to assure Quality Assurance products are sufficient to recognize vulnerabilities in performance and are effective in ensuring response will improve both performance and quality. The Quality Assurance Senior Auditor/Engineer (Level IV) provides an oversight function for audit teams and audit process for both internal and external audits/surveillances and provides mentoring and guidance for other Division positions. This position monitors and analyzes audit results to assess the plant's operational parameters to ensure compliance with licensing bases. Degreed engineers in this position will be titled Quality Assurance Engineer (Level IV). Those personnel without and Engineering degree will be title Quality Assurance Senior Auditor.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Capable of attaining qualifications necessary to provide oversight/supervision of internal and external audit/ surveillance teams comprised of up to ten individuals in the function of Lead Auditor.
- Provide objective assessments concerning activities involving performance and/or conformance to standards affecting quality at all levels of the organization and through audits/surveillances, assess the plant's operational parameters to ensure compliance with licensing bases.
- Effectively communicate conditions relative to activities affecting quality to all levels of the organization up to and including the Board of Directors and NRC for both internal and external audits/surveillances.
- Verify through assessment that solutions to conditions affecting quality have been effectively implemented including interim and long-term actions.
- Select, verify the credentials of, and provide the logistics for external auditors assisting in audits/ surveillances at NPPD.
- Directly responsible for the conduct of all facets of internal and external audits, and the effective communication to the appropriate level of management, including the assessment of escalation of issues as appropriate.
- The incumbent will analyze, interpret, and assess the implementation of requirements of regulatory documents, including licensing bases documents as they apply to the facility and personnel.
- Provide oversight and implementation functions for the Quality Control Program.
- Incumbent is accountable for miscellaneous other responsibilities as assigned or required, including the possibility of assignment to participate on SORC.
Decision Making Authority:
The Quality Assurance Senior Auditor/Engineer (Level IV) is responsible to perform the functions of Lead Auditor in both internal and external audits with the accompanying responsibility of oversight/supervision of up to ten individuals. This function will require decisions affecting supervision/oversight of personnel and conditions affecting quality at all levels of the organization, without the benefit of immediate supervisory/management input. This position will also provide assessment of escalation issues and plant operational parameters to ensure compliance with licensing bases. This position has the authority and responsibility to recommend Stop Work.
Education and Training:
Engineer (Level IV) - BS Engineering (ABET) OR P.E. and BS Engineering (Non-ABET or technical field plus 6 years nuclear power plant engineering experience. Must have knowledge of quality assurance program requirements, Code of Federal Regulations, regulatory guides, and industry codes and standards.
Sr. Auditor - Bachelors degree plus a minimum of 4 years multi-disciplined technical experience in areas such as nuclear operations, licensing, training, maintenance, etc. Must have advanced knowledge of quality assurance program requirements, Code of Federal Regulations, regulatory guides, and industry codes and standards;

Demonstrated superior lead auditor skills plus a minimum of 6 years multi-disciplined technical expertise in areas such as nuclear operations, licensing, training, maintenance, etc. Must have advanced knowledge of quality assurance program requirements, Code of Federal Regulations, regulatory guides, and industry codes and standards.
Licenses and/or Certifications:
Must meet the requirement of ANSI/ASME N45.2.23, Qualifications of Quality Assurance Program Personnel for Nuclear Power Plants within two years of fulfilling the position. Must be qualified to ANSI N18.1 (Section 4.1), Selection and Training of Nuclear Power Plant Personnel requirements.
