Nebraska Public Power District has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer (Design) / or Mechanical Engineer Specialist (Design) located at Cooper Nuclear Station near Brownville, Nebraska.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school or PE with a non-ABET Bachelors degree.
- General knowledge of professional engineering practices, engineered systems, and business unit equipment.
- Knowledge of accepted codes, regulations and standards pertinent to the business unit.
- Must be ANSI N-18.1 1971 qualified.
- The person filling this position must live within 45-minute response time to Cooper Nuclear Station.
- This individual will be subject to the District's Fitness for Duty Program.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop effective working relationships with maintenance, operations, other engineering departments and project management as required to implement timely and cost effective solutions to station problems.
- Maintain the station's design bases utilizing the station's configuration control process and corrective action process.
- Evaluate and implement solutions for assigned tasks to achieve continuous improvement in station performance and material conditions consistent with station safety, cost, and production goals.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve design engineering capabilities that will support department and station goals through improved equipment and station performance.
- Challenge and effectively communicate ideas and knowledge to, and provide recommendations needed by the plant staff to maximize equipment and station performance.
