Engineer OR Engineer Specialist

Nebraska Public Power District has an immediate opening for an Engineer OR Engineer Specialist located at Cooper Nuclear Station near Brownville, Nebraska.

Performs Civil/Structural design engineering activities in support of Cooper Nuclear Station. Duties include, but are not limited to preparation of station modifications, development of engineering evaluations, performing rigging and seismic analyses of plant components, ownership of assigned structural engineering programs, implementation of the Corrective Action Program, performance of calculations, field support of maintenance and modification activities, project management and performing refueling outage support assignments.

The respondent is subject to the District's Fitness for Duty Program. The person filling this position must live within a 45-minute response time to Cooper Nuclear Station and will participate as a member of the CNS Emergency Response Organization (ERO). The respondent must be qualified to ANSI 18.1-1971.

Education and Training:

Engineering
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited school, preferably in Civil/Structural Engineering OR P.E. and B.S. Degree in Engineering from a Non-ABET accredited School.

Engineering Specialist V
Associates Degree in an Engineering/Technical Field and 8 years experience in Engineering Department Activities

    OR

Engineering Specialist IV
Associates Degree in an Engineering/Technical Field and 4 years experience in Engineering Department Activities

Required Experiences:

  • Level I no prior engineering experience required.
  • Level II engineer requires a minimum of two years prior experience in the engineering field, preferably in nuclear power, advanced degree or relevant military service.
  • Level III engineer requires a minimum of four years experience in the engineering field, preferably in nuclear power with up to two years experience credit given for relevant military experience and or an advanced degree.
  • Level IV engineer requires minimum of six years experience in the engineering field, preferably in nuclear power with up to two years experience credit given for relevant military experience and or an advanced degree.

Desired Experiences:

  • Working knowledge of nuclear power plant systems and regulations.
  • Construction project management experience.
  • Seismic qualification and analysis experience
  • Familiarity with ASME, AWS, ACI and AISC codes.
