Pawnee City, Neb. – This Sunday morning, March 19, Nebraska Public Power District has scheduled a planned power outage for Pawnee City. The outage will also affect the community of Steinauer and the rural areas between the two communities.
The outage is currently planned to take place between 12:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. NPPD needs to conduct substation maintenance work that will require the power to the area be switched off so the utility crews can work safely. Utilizing those early morning hours limits many business disruptions.
Customers in the Pawnee City and Steinauer area should receive an automated message from NPPD at their home or business concerning the outage.
While this outage is planned and relatively short in duration, NPPD recommends that customers avoid opening the refrigerator and freezer while the outage is underway.
Also, turn off all computers, monitors, printers, copiers, scanners and other electronic devices when they’re not being used. That way, when the power goes out, this equipment will have already been safely shut down and will avoid any potential power surge when electricity is restored.
