NPPD to conduct maintenance work that will turn the lights off for up to four hours Tuesday morning

July 17, 2017

Chadron, Neb. – Nebraska Public Power District will be conducting a planned outage that will affect Chadron and nearby customers of the Northwest Rural Public Power District next Tuesday morning, July 18.

NPPD crews will be doing maintenance work in the Chadron sub-station that will require power to be shutoff in the community. Work will begin at 1 a.m. Tuesday and is expected to take approximately four hours to complete. In the event there are weather conditions that prevent the maintenance work from happening, the backup date will be on Wednesday, July 19 at the same time.

Conducting the maintenance work in the early morning hours is expected to have the least amount of impact on the community.

NPPD recommends that customers have a flashlight available for emergency lighting, turn off any electrical equipment such as lights, computers, and televisions prior to the 1 a.m. start, and avoid opening the refrigerator and freezer while the power is out.
